Description

Saya Sakakibara is an Olympic gold medalist in BMX racing.

At Paris 2024, Saya's story of Olympic triumph captured the nation as she was embraced by her brother Kai who just 4 years prior had a devastating BMX accident while racing at a world cup event. Kai was left with a traumatic brain injury that threatened his life and left the Sakikabara family clinging onto hope.

The incident inspired Saya to pursue the olympic dream for the both of them at Tokyo in 2021 where adversity reared its ugly head and left her with a troubling concussion of her own. Self doubt, fear and uncertainty riddled Saya and nearly saw her leave the sport forever, but she fought back.

Saya's new book 'Just Go' is an incredible story of overcoming adversity and facing fear head on. She joined me on the podcast for a conversation about it all.
